My photo essay was based on the seven deadly sins, and my portrayal of how I possess those sins. I used different colored photo filters to change the tone of the pictures. For example, to portray lust, I used a dark red-violent filter because it set the picture in a sultry tone. I took these pictures myself using a tripod and timer, and edited them through photoshop. Next to each picture is either a quote or a few lines of a song that represents the sin. However, at the end I reflect on how even though I am a sinner, I’m also a repenter and that I portray the seven heavenly virtues as well.

Many people said that because Lindsay, Daniel and myself are jokesters, we wouldn’t be able to take this project seriously. However, I feel that we proved everyone wrong. Yes, we did have fun and some joking occurred, but at the same time, we worked hard on the video to make it amazing. I’m very proud of how this video worked out. The content as well as the editing fit well with the song and I’m very pleased with the final result of the video. We had technical difficulties with the capturing process sometimes, which definitely set us back, however we were still able to pull through and produce an amazing video. This project was supposed to be about our “Identity” and anyone who knows the three of us will know that this video very much represented who we are.

At Bars and Tone I had a very, very pleasant experience. When we first arrived, we were greeted by the lovely host in pink, Teresa LoBue. She was very warm and friendly. She also had one of the brightest smiles I’d ever seen! She was accompanied by two interns, Enrique and Alexandra. They were very welcoming as well. All three of them were really eager to educate us about their company and about different types of media. They showed us a PowerPoint presentation that not only gave us information on their general field of work, but also detailed profiles of their head employees. We also watched a very entertaining video that showed us how much social media has affected the lives of the human population. After that, we all introduced ourselves to Teresa, Enrique and Alexandra. Some of us showed off our talents! Leylani and Elaine both sang, and Willey and Brandon also demonstrated their break dancing skills with us.
After we were all acquainted, we were able to spend time with the heads of the company. These workers were Stefan Welter, Eric Steckel, Brian T. Nowac and Gina. Because I was very interested in that field of work, I had many questions for them! First I talked to Gina, then Brian, then Stefan and then finally Eric.
I enjoyed my conversations with everyone there, but I really have to say that I was deeply influenced by the advice Brian gave to me because I want to be a director, like him. He told me that if I wanted to succeed as a director I have to polish my people skills, practice flexibility and patience, I need to learn how to satisfy the needs of others as well as be willing do hard work while maintaining a positive attitude. Something he told me that I would’ve never guessed was that studying engineering would be something very useful for me.
Something I hadn’t really been sure about before was how to get started in the screenwriting and directing business. However, by collaborating l the advice I was given, I’ve learned that success can be achieved through internships and even just going out and volunteering can be good practice and beneficial and to just be able to discover my passion an make a career out of it. Before Bars and Tone, I wasn’t really sure about whether or not this field was right for me, but after exploring Bars and Tone and being able to converse with the people who helped make it the successful business that it is, I feel more convince that this is a goal I should really work towards.

So what am I thankful for? Today, I’d like to say that I’m thankful for my family. Even though we drive each other CRAZY most of the time, we would probably go COMPLETELY INSANE w/o eachother! Even though I might not look like them on the outside, on the inside, we all have the same passionate blood flowing through our veins. I’m very grateful for the family I have, and I wouldn’t trade them for anything.

I am who I am
No, your labels can’t define me
And don’t ever think
That your words will confine me
Bipolar teen
Yeah that’s right
Got swallowed by darkness
But I found the light
Got three things that keeps me, me
Family, friends
And my boy JC
Energetic, quirky vahine
Rippin’ fa’a'rapus everyday
Gas, break, dippin in my car
Always reaching for the stars
F*ck all this pressure tryna stop me
Tiffanyy Tano Mitchell is who I be
(Spoken) And I’ll defy gravity to help me succeed
I will get to the TOP
I will go to college AND graduate
I will inspire EVERYONE around me
And I WILL make you proud

Being siblings, it wasn’t difficult for Tiffanyy and Gina to get extremely exasperated with each other. Being together almost every minute of the day could really get annoying. Often, when they were together, they spent the majority of their time assailing or deriding each other, just for the fun of it. However, there were times when one person would take it too far and someone would end up hurt. Neither of them were benevolent to each other because that wouldn’t of been fun nor entertaining. If you were to juxtapose the two and scrutinize their personalities, you’d come to the conclusion that Gina was more of a histrionic type who liked to exaggerate and Tiffanyy was more of a volatile type who could blow up any minute. However, one cannot corroborate that the two were discordant. Although they were very different and argued most of the time, they did have some idyllic and serene moments and they very much enjoyed the vacuous, thoughtless fun they would have together. One could even describe their good pleasant moments as incandescent, for the warmth of their bond could heat up an entire room. Tiffanyy was the older of the two, and although she couldn’t be considered a sage, she had learned much through her years. She wasn’t always decorous, but she always tried to be a didactic for her younger sister; “more of a do as I say, not what I do” type of relationship. It was obvious to Tiffanyy that Gina was trying to expedite her growth, something that Tiffanyy did not want! She couldn’t handle her little sister growing up to fast. These days all she heard about were her amorous feelings for certain boys. All she needed was for Gina to approach her with a distended belly and saying that it wasn’t her fault she was so fecund!

For this remix, I wanted the beginning to be very dramatic and slow, and then go into something more fun and upbeat.

Being the photographer was a delightful experience. Getting to be behind the camera was quite enjoyable. Plus, not only do you get to play the role of instructor, but you develop a closer relationship with your subjects. The editing process was also much fun because I was able to manipulate the photo and to basically change it any way I wanted to. Having these tools gives me access to add even more to these pictures and rise them up to their full potential.
I’m proud of the way these photos turned out. I like my subjects, poses backgrounds, and I take pride in my editing as well.
For next time, I want to get more pictures. I didn’t take as many as I would’ve liked to. And I also would like to be more creative in terms of poses and backgrounds so that my photos would look more unique and original.
